Mintz & Geftic’s Big Autumn – Over $1 Million Recovered for Clients!

Thanksgiving weekend has arrived and it’s been a season to remember for Mintz & Geftic, and most importantly, our clients. In just the last couple of months, we have worked to obtain a number of settlements for our clients that have totaled over one million dollars!

$476,000 Settlement in a Slip and Fall

$476,000 settlement for an Elizabeth, New Jersey worker in a slip and fall case

. While she was working as a janitor at an office building in Millburn, New Jersey, our client fell on recently painted steps causing significant injuries resulting in multiple surgeries. These work injuries included a torn rotator cuff, fractured clavicle, fractured rib. and fractured ankle.

$390,000 of the settlement in this slip and fall lawsuit was for negligence of the landlord and $85,830 was for our client’s workers’ compensation benefits.

$260,000 Settlement for Injuries Suffered in a Truck Accident

$260,000 settlement for an Elizabeth, New Jersey worker injured during a truck accident. The worker suffered neck and back injuries when the oil delivery truck that he was driving was struck by a tractor trailer.

The worker’s neck injuries resulted in a cervical discectomy and decompression and fusion surgery at the C5-6 level.

$120,000 Settlement for Injuries Suffered in a Car Accident

$120,000 settlement for an Irvington, New Jersey woman that was a passenger in a vehicle that was struck from behind.

The rear end collision caused shoulder and knee injuries and our client required both arthroscopic shoulder and knee surgeries. She suffered from aggravation of pre-existing back injuries as well in the car accident.

$100,000 Settlement for Injuries Suffered in a Car Accident

$100,000 settlement for an Elizabeth, New Jersey woman who suffered neck and shoulder injuries when involved in a rear-end car accident.

The neck injuries resulted in a cervical discectomy and fusion surgery at the C5-6 level.  The woman also underwent right shoulder arthroscopy for the shoulder injuries caused by the car accident.  The case settled for all available insurance, which comprised of $15,000 from the defendant driver and $85,000 from the client’s own underinsured motorist (UIM) protection insurance coverage.

$50,000 Settlement for Injury While Jogging

A New Jersey woman, while jogging, suffered a laceration to the bridge of her nose as well as a deviated septum, when she tripped over raised and uneven pavers in front of a Livingston, New Jersey supermarket.  She fortunately made an excellent recovery with minimal scarring and the uneven pavers were fixed within approximately one week of the accident.
